SRON is the Dutch institute for scientific space research. It develops pioneering technology and advanced space instruments and uses them to pursue fundamental astrophysical research, Earth science and exoplanetary research. As the national expertise institute, SRON gives counsel to the Dutch government and coordinates - from a science standpoint - national contributions to international space missions. Also, SRON stimulates the implementation of space science in Dutch society.
SRON develops science cases, key enabling technologies, prototypes and demonstrators, space-qualified instrumentation and data-analysis tools that will define the next generation of space missions, to be launched in the 2020s and 2030s. Missions that will answer fundamental questions: What is the origin of the universe and what is it made of? Is there life elsewhere in the universe? And what is the future of the Earth's climate?
